My Visions
To make visions happen a committed and properly equipped team is required. Not all of my visions have gone from concept to fulfillment. Some have. On this page, I will devote a moment to each of these visions.
THE GUIDE
When my cousin Tommy died on 9/11/2001 in one of the twin towers and then three other cousins were called to active duty I realized that I had to do my part to stand along side those who fought for liberty, even though I never personally served in the military. THE GUIDE was what I came up with to solve the problem of voter ignorance. It is a non-partisan (I mean truly non-partisan) forum for debate. And the emphasis is local elections, rather than presidential, because believe it or not, there is even greater ignorance in local politics than the politics of network news. There are some simple things that could be done to make this idea work. It will require a great deal of effort from a good number of like minded individuals who understand the value of dialog and public scrutiny. There is one forum for debate for every election and every item on the ballot, which makes it a very ambitious project. With the progress of technology, I would now like to see this include YouTube uploads. LIFT
Let's Ignite Free Trade (LIFT) is to be a concerted effort among wealthy business men and women to provide monies for start up small and micro-businesses of twenty five employees or less. Studies show that 85% of employees work for small or micro-businesses and this drives 80% of the economy. It stands to reason that this is the sector that needs help most. Some programs exist to assist small businesses but not nearly enough. By stimulating small businesses with grants, loans, and practical resources the small business community is ignited. And when that happens the whole economy improves - so the money wil come right back to those who give and, in fact, everyone will thrive. It will create more revenue for governments, more jobs, more opportunity and overall health, and ultimately funding for other philanthropic causes. HANDS
The more I thought about the Human Availability and Needs Database System, which is a simple matching of people's needs with the people who can fill them, the more I realized that what HANDS really was was church. Or to put it more accurately, it is something the church started to do in the book of Acts, but seems to have stopped doing. Everyone laid all their possessions down at the apostles' feet. They gave their lives away. This is "human availability." The apostles were then able to take care of the "needs of the saints." The church is still the world's greatest arm of charity. But I see a break down in communication. The Database System of HANDS is designed to directly connect those who can fill needs with those who have needs that need filling. I originally had this vision in the 1980s. Then when I saw it was time to initiate the All Night Church, which would include an Internet Cafe in an Inter-denominational setting, I realized that HANDS should be at the core of the encounter - a communication hub for all of the churches' members, so that all needs could be met and all peoples could be served. What HANDS needs more than anything else is good quality programmer volunteers. If you are a techie, then please let's talk. I don't yet have a separate web site for HANDS.
ALL NIGHT CHURCH
The word "Church" conjures up many images for many people, not all of them positive, so it needs explanation. All Night Church is an interdenominational facility, which means that any church in the area, and any member of any church in the area can use this one facility and the churches are welcome to work together for common functions as they feel led. The idea is to keep the doors of the church open all the time. As such it serves as an outreach to both Christians and non-Christians. For the most part, "opening the doors" refers to availability for counseling, prayer, study, fellowship and worship, rather than performance and preaching, though there are few rules.
