Jesus, Almighty, Friend,
As the sun rises I see the approach of a new day. It is a day to
get things right, to invite Your presence, to live anew. That time
is limited. The sun will set. Time is already ticking away. So here
I am with You to say no efforts of mine will make this day great.
I need You. I need You to show me what You want of me. And I need
Your power, not just mine, to accomplish it.
Lord, fill me with Your love. Move me to pray for those who hurt.
People fight in vain to change the world, to heal poverty, to eliminate
joblessness and disease, to create peace with our enemies. We need
miracles or these things will not happen. We have faught hard for
a long time and have still failed.
Lord, I have seen visions in conflict. No one even gets to try
out their program because others stop them. You know that I have
had ideas too. But they will never be implemented until You come.
Maybe You desire this tension to exist in this world so that we
can all glorify You when You heal our diseases, when You wipe the
tears from our eyes, when You rule the world with a rod of iron,
when You feed the hungry, when You execute justice to all, when
all bow at Your feet.
Truly You are our only hope. We trust in horses and chariots in
vain. I am glad George Bush was reelected president but I know what
his opponents are saying. They claim he doesn't care about the greater
moral values of eliminating poverty, providing affordable health
care, funding research for stem cells to heal disease, providing
income for our troops, and more troops to relieve those that are
stressed. They say he doesn't care about blacks and minorities or
women. And that he fails to promote adoption. They always say he
is a liar. They say he is motivated by his economic connections
with the Saudis. Europe believes these things too.
They will convince one another that these things are true over
the next four years and find other things to criticize him for.
They are already claiming there was a conspiracy with the Diabold
voting machines. The European press will pick this up and believe
it. And they discount the increase in the black vote for him as
being only about gay marriage and abortion. They don't consider
that black thinkers like Thomas Sowell and Walter E Williams, who
are as concerned about relief of poverty and the plight of blacks
too, but offer different solutions, might be having an impact. The
Europeans will hate both America and the Christians all the more
on account of their aversion to the whole truth.
We are living in a sound bite generation, Lord. And there is no
escaping it. You made me a writer and thinker. But people like me
have very little impact. You haven't given me an audience. No one
is reading my work. No one knows about it. At this rate our land
will perish for lack of knowledge soon. The cult of death will only
continue to rise. They will talk about their concern for families
and wonderful notions like world peace, diplomacy, health and helping
the poor. They claim to be religious. But inside they hate You.
I have seen them persecuting both You and Your people. And You said
in prophecy that this would increase before You came back to us
to judge us. Even the church would be drunk with the blood of the
saints.
This dark problem, for which there is no solution, for which people
will fight and hate and decieve, would be the death of us. Except
You have the power to heal us of this disease. Even before You return
in glory. Lord, four years don't mean very much to me, especially
if our goals our thwarted by this kind of adversary. I ask for a
lasting peace, Lord. I ask for what only You can provide. I ask
that these common goals of healing disease, hunger, illiteracy and
tyranny, should find their solution despite this conflict. In other
words, come quickly Lord Jesus in Your Holy Spirit to live in our
hearts and to dwell on the earth in power until You come in all
Your glory. In other words, I don't place my trust in George Bush.
I realize that he is just a man. He can't do what he wants to do
without Your power and will. So I pray Your mercy on him and on
us and on this world.
Thank You, Lord Jesus. Thank You Father. Bless You Holy Spirit.
We are desparate for You. You are faithful. I rest and trust in
You.
